Founders That Focus on Collaboration Over the Next Decade Will Win

Let me give you a modern day example of collaboration at work. Playing For Change is a multimedia music project featuring musicians and singers from across the globe

The organization has received acclaim for developing a mobile recording studio originally powered by golf cart batteries. They tapped into their unique invention to enlist artists to produce a collaborative recording pairing famous international artists and talented “on the rise” local musicians.

The team records the musicians live outdoors. When completed, they progressively add the separate artists to the video, blending in the musicians and singers into one performance.

As of today they have filmed artists from over 60 countries.

The production that kicked it all off was their first recording of “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King.

Another notable recording was of Carlos Santana and his wife, Cindy Blackman, a noted drummer. They performed his famous song “ Oye Como Va” with local performers from across the world.

It’s impressive how they are mixing cultures, artist styles, geographies together to create a brilliant work of art. Even though you see the finished product now…all of this started as an idea and a vision that took shape to become what it is today.

Collaboration is here to stay. Ask Lois Sonstegard from: “Tomorrow’s world of disruption will place almost impossible demands on organizations. Disruption will be navigated by COLLABORATION!”

Next time you’re thinking about how big your vision is…just think what you can accomplish when you bring collaborative forces together to accomplish the mission.
